Week 22: Monochromatic Painting

Hello,

This was my first time using oil paints and I think I did an okay job! This took a long time to do, which is why the people from the renaissance were probably very patient :)

The rose has two kinds of texture. The leaves are bumpy and the petals are smooth. The painting is also monochromatic using only three colors: blue, white, and black (but I made my black using red and green). I'm excited to try oil painting again!

Note: The canvas I used had the little holes, which made the painting somewhat textured. It isn't as noticeable in real life, but the camera enhanced it, so sorry about that.

  2. Hey, I chose a rose for my monochromatic painting, too! The difference is yours is much more detailed and beautiful! I'm jealous! Seriously, the shading is on point!

  3. I really like this monochromatic piece. The flower is very realistic and beautifully painted. You did a really nice job of blending and shading with this piece, which is hard to achieve with paint.
