Week 26: Background

Hello!

Here is my oil paint abstract background. First of all, I used 3 different techniques to get the texture that I wanted. I used a paint brush, a sponge, and a rag. I also chose to do a lighter background because my cat is going to be black, so I didn't want the painting to feel weighed down because I don't like that kind of look. I also did warm yellows and golds mixed with cool greens and red to help add interest into the painting. I tried doing the darkest colors at the bottom and the lightest at the top.

I'm really happy with the way that the background looks and I'm excited to paint my Egyptian Cat next week. I think that the texture and the colors match the mood that I want to portray for this painting.
